JILLIAN HOLBROOK
Leading with Excellence, Resilience, Integrity, Ambition, and Empathy.
Excellence
Excellence embodies my commitment to growth, whether I am fostering my academic intellect, challenging myself to master new skills or step out of my comfort zone, seeking answers to complex questions, finding the best interdisciplinary approach to solve a problem, or effectuating community impact, I seek to achieve the best version of myself and create spaces where those around me can do the same.
Resilience
Resilience is the persistent pursuit of goals through trials, tribulations, and adversity. Having navigated years of chronic pain, discrimination, and hardship I am fueled by grit, passion, and determination to achieve higher purposes despite all odds. Weathering any storm I encounter, I may bend, but I will not break or lose sight of my goals and intentions.
Integrity
My integrity as a leader represents my resolution not to cut corners, the accountability I take when championing justice, how I remain self-assured in my convictions, and the advocacy of equity and inclusion I fight for across institutional and international levels. To be successful, particularly as a servant leader, I hold myself to intrinsically high standards—such that my respective communities are able to trust their support of my passion and ability. I value my ability to choose what is right over what is easy.
Ambition
With resourcefulness, passion, and purpose, I actualize positive change in myself and my environment. I apply my intrinsic motivation to accomplish goals, holistically help others, and dedicate myself to being a lifelong learner. Through my sense of values and intuition, I serve as an advocate, eliminate inequity, and take charge to turn aspirations into actions. I keep one eye trained on the future because that’s the direction I am traveling through hard work, a growth mindset, and a desire for improvement and success.
Empathy
Although leaders benefit from logic, I pay an equal credence to my heart as I do my head. My profound care and my principled humanism guide my ability to nurture, teach, and understand others—particularly by recognizing the feelings, strengths, motivations, and needs of teams and individuals. I prioritize cultural competence, active listening, and adaptability to help others with dignity and respect—whether through my expansion of educational resource accessibility for underserved communities or through my work improving interventions for neuropsychiatric memory care and behavioral therapies.
